How to build a direct booking website for your short-term rental
You do not need a full property-management system to let guests book you again. A focused direct booking website (one clear stay page with dates, price, and checkout) is enough for most independent hosts.
What “direct booking website” means for hosts
In practice it is a public page guests open on their phone: photos, nightly rate, date picker, house basics, and a pay button that sends money to you. It is not your entire brand site, and it does not have to replace Airbnb, Vrbo, or Booking.com.
Think of it as a second door for returning guests, friends of past guests, and people who found you on Instagram or Google, without OTA fees on that stay.
Builder vs full PMS (when a simple page wins)
- Full PMS / channel manager (Guesty, Lodgify, etc.): calendars across many listings, channel sync, team workflows. Powerful and heavy if you have one or a few homes.
- Direct booking website builder: one stay page (or a few), your rates, your Stripe account, live in an afternoon.
If your goal is “guests can book me without messaging,” a builder-style stay page is usually the right first step. You can always grow into a PMS later.
What you need before you build
- Strong photos: hero image plus a short gallery. Guests decide in seconds.
- Clear nightly rate + cleaning fee: show totals honestly for the dates they pick.
- Min nights and max guests: same rules you already use on OTAs.
- House rules and check-in / check-out: the “things to know” guests expect (quiet hours, parking, access).
- A payout method: Stripe Connect so money lands in your account after checkout.
Step-by-step: build the page
1. Start from a stay template
Pick a layout built for short-term rentals (hero, booking bar, gallery, amenities, neighborhood, things to know), not a generic “business website.” See our direct booking website template checklist.
2. Write for skimming
One headline, one supporting line, one book button. Put price and dates under the hero. Save long stories for About / Neighborhood.
3. Set rates and blocked dates
Enter nightly price, cleaning fee, min nights. Block dates you already sold on Airbnb so you do not double-book.
4. Connect payouts
Complete Stripe onboarding so checkout can charge the correct total for the selected nights and send funds to you.
5. Publish a public URL
Share /stay/your-slug in your email signature, Instagram bio, and post-stay “book again” message. Pair it with a digital welcome book so booked guests still get WiFi and access without inbox ping-pong.
Airbnb hosts: keep both channels
Direct booking does not mean leaving Airbnb. Use OTAs for discovery; use your stay page for repeats. Full angle: direct booking for Airbnb hosts.
How welcomein.to fits
welcomein.to Direct is a stay-page builder for hosts: Residence-style landing page, date-based Stripe Checkout, and the same plan caps as your welcome books (1 / 5 / unlimited). Guests pay for the nights they pick; you keep your calendar rules simple.
